A friend of Eva’s brought the inspiration for this cocktail back from his trip to Thailand. The original recipe called for 7Up, but Eva saw an opportunity to substitute her kombucha for a tangier, tastier, better-for-you tipple that refreshes on a summer evening and purportedly prevents hangovers for those who are prone to suffering nasty morning-after headaches.
Makes 4 to 6 servings
1 medium seedless red watermelon
1 small jalapeño pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
¾ cup good-quality small-batch vodka such as Bull Run, House Spirits, or New Deal
Kombucha, as a mixer (see DIY Kombucha, if you want to make your own)
